TGIF – How to Make Friday Your Most Productive Day of the Week

Impact Group Productivity Blog

Typically, people who work a traditional Monday-to-Friday job will tell you that Monday is their most productive day at the office, despite the constant complaint of feeling the Monday blues.  Mondays allow for plenty of time to plan out projects and organize time for the upcoming week. At the start of the week, it seems like anything is possible and the week ahead will offer plenty of time to get things done.

On the flip side, people often claim Friday is their favorite day of the week. After four long days of work, it’s exciting to think about beginning the long-awaited weekend. But this typically means that Friday is also a person’s least productive day.

No one wants to get bogged down with work on a Friday, but sometimes it’s inevitable. When the TGIF mentality kicks into gear and you’re ready to throw in the towel for the week, consider how you can alter that mindset and turn Friday into your most productive day yet.

There are a lot of ways you can turn Friday from a burnt-out, weekend waiting game to a high-speed, productive work day in just a few simple steps:

  • Start Monday off strong.

Organize your week to ensure that you won’t have a ton of work to do on Friday. The more organized you are from the get-go, the less surprises you’ll have to tackle before you head out for the weekend.
  • Don’t over exhaust yourself.

Don’t push yourself to a breaking point by Wednesday or Thursday. If you do, you won’t have any energy left to finish out the rest of the week, which will ultimately lead to a slower, less productive day on Friday.
  • Don’t get caught up in your weekend plans.

After a long work week, it’s very easy to focus on your weekend plans—especially when you haves something fun coming up. Keep your mind on your work while you’re there. Be present and productive. Then, when you get to your weekend festivities, they will be even more fun because you will have the peace of mind that you finished the work week strong and can now relax.
  • Have fun.

Every work environment is different and office cultures vary by company, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy little moments within your week as you stay busy at work. Having a little fun at work every day will make the week go by much faster, making Friday just another day to get your tasks in order.

Friday is only as productive as you make it. You have control over your mindset for the most favored day of the week, so make it a positive one. Keep on trucking through the piles of paperwork on your desk and remember that Friday can be your most productive day yet.
